Mega City Four vs The USA Episode 6

Back in 1992 Mega City Four went on their first and only tour of the USA and of course took a camera. The footage hasn’t seen the light of day until bassist Gerry found the tape whilst researching the upcoming Sebastopol Rd re-issue.

In Episode 6, the band play at the legendary CBGB’s in New York City and celebrate with a party after the show.

Gerry says: “A thrilling moment pulling up outside CBGB’s for the first time. The backstage footage of the aftershow party brings back a lot of memories: Ian from Damaged Goods, Rob “The Bass Thing” Jones from The Wonder Stuff, and Tank, the amazing Ned’s Atomic Dustbin manager that made the whole tour possible in the first place… and then there’s some Anti-Manics-Rudeness as well!”

Gerry says “This first episode shows our arrival at JFK, meeting our tour manager and driver and looking around the bus that was to be our home for a couple of weeks. The bus was allegedly designed for John Denver’s use. It’s difficult to describe how excited we were. This is the first time the footage has been seen publicly. Hopefully you’ll find it a bit more interesting than your neighbour’s Costa Brava holiday video!”

Sebastopol Road – Work Begins

So we met up with the band this week to start the process of putting together the re-ssie of Sebastopol Road.

Having told us that there was not much by way of mementoes Gerry proceeded to produce numerous bags of demo tapes and twenty year old cassettes, boxes of original merchandise, upwards of twenty scrapbooks and even the odd piece of original artwork – not much work to do then!

Still , there are far worse ways to spend a weekend than by immersing yourself in memories of classic musical eras and Mega City Four certainly deserve their prominent place as a leader in the punk/pop movement of the 90’s.

With the track listing for the release already nearing completion and the sleevenotes underway we hope to have good news very soon on a release date- so please stay tuned or better yet register for news updates on MC4 and our other Partner Artists.
